I figure a lot of cats who read this blog probably already regularly check www.brainfeedersite.com, the site for the label/collective started by Flying Lotus.

But if you haven’t seen it before, I highly reccomend you check it out now for regular and inspring doses of visual art, music and general left-field creativity. If you dig around in the archives you’ll find mixes to download by both members of the Brainfeeder collective (like Flying Lotus and Gaslamp Killer) and some very special guests (like Martyn).

For just one example of the awesome content on this site, check out this mega-jam session to celebrate Flying Lotus‘s birthday, organised by the Art don’t Sleep crew and featuring none other than the Gaslamp Killer behind the drumkit (and plenty of other L.A. luminaries participating, like Shafiq Husayn from Sa-ra Creative Partners).

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the current L.A. beats scene reminds me of the vibe of the glory days of mid-late 80s US underground rock, and that’s a very good thing. Personally I can’t wait for the Gas Lamp Killer at Cage on 27 November 2009……………
